GrainQL 7 is out today. It is the biggest release we have shipped, with over 200 updates since 6.5.
6.5 gave you better ways to ask questions. GrainQL 7 is about what happens after the answer. You see what is working, you do more of it, and you never leave the page you are on.
The center of it is Neo, a new agent that knows your numbers and gets the next step done. Around Neo, almost every screen in GrainQL is new. Here is the tour.
Meet Neo#

Neo is the agent inside GrainQL. It replaces Kai, and it does a lot more.
Ask Neo something and it reads your real data, runs the queries, and answers in plain words. Then it helps with what comes next. Ask how your campaigns did this month and you get a table of every campaign with its visits, conversions and revenue. Ask for a link for the next newsletter and Neo drafts one with the same source and medium as the campaigns that already convert, ready to save with one click.
A few things we cared about:
- Answers come with the real numbers. Campaign tables, heatmap reads, the visitors behind a number. Every card is built from a query on your data, not a guess.
- Neo does the busywork. Tagging links, building reports, finding the sessions behind a spike. You stay in charge: nothing is saved until you press the button.
- You pick the speed. Fast, Smart or Max, with a clear view of what you used in the last 14 days. Prefer your own model provider? Add your key and Neo runs on it.
Neo is quick, too. It takes far fewer round trips than Kai did to reach the same answer.
Ask Neo your first question
Neo is at the top of your sidebar. Ask what grew this week and see what it finds.
Neo, on every page#

Press ⌘J anywhere in GrainQL and Neo opens beside the page you are on. It already knows what the page shows, so you can ask "which of these campaigns should get more budget?" without explaining what "these" are.
Charts work the same way. Click a point and ask Neo about it right there. The page stays where it is.
Neo sets up your site#

New workspaces now start with Neo. Give it your site address and it reads your key pages, in any language, and proposes a setup: the goal that matters, the buttons worth tracking, the sections worth mapping. Tap a line to leave it out. Install the tag, and Neo checks that data arrives.
Your first hour then gets its own page: who is on your site right now, and what Neo noticed in the first visits.
A clearer GrainQL#

We redesigned the dashboard from the ground up. The accent is now Neo blue, and every page reads like a summary first and a chart second.
- Overview opens with one sentence about your week, a live visitor count, and tiles that switch the chart between visitors, page views, events and sessions. Sources come with their logos, countries with their flags.
- Mission Control focuses on one goal at a time: the number, the trend, the facts that matter, Neo's read, and where conversions come from.
- Sessions are easier to scan, and the replay timeline fits each session.
- Settings is one page with sections, and a save bar that appears only when you change something.
Dashboards in a sentence#

Saved dashboards are rebuilt. Start from a ready-made dashboard or a blank one. Add a card from the ready-made set, or type what you want to see, like signups by source. Drag cards around, resize them, or use the keyboard. Notes sit next to the numbers they explain.
Your existing dashboards move over on their own the first time you open them.
Launch with clean links#

Campaigns now finds every campaign in your traffic by itself and shows each one with its platform, visits, conversions and revenue. Meta placements of the same campaign are grouped, so Instagram, Facebook and Audience Network read as one.
Launching the next one is a conversation. Tell Neo what you are launching, like "TikTok ads for the autumn restock", and it builds the tagged link and asks only what it cannot work out.
Every campaign link can have a short link on grainl.ink, or on oatl.ink when you would rather not show a brand. The tracking tags stay out of sight, the link stays short, and once a campaign is saved its link always goes to the same place.
Plan your next launch
Open Campaigns, tell Neo what you are launching, and get a clean link in a minute.
You decide what counts#

The new Events page lists every event your site sends. Switch an event on and it counts as a conversion everywhere in GrainQL: Mission Control, Campaigns and Neo all use the same definition. Give it a fallback value if it does not carry one, and your conversion value adds up.
Money also looks right in every currency now, with its own symbol and format.
Your team, your rules#

- Invite people by email. They see what they are joining before they sign in, and pending invites can be revoked at any time.
- Pick a consent mode per workspace: cookieless, ask first, or track unless people opt out. The tag applies it by itself.
- Data retention follows your plan by default, or you can pick a shorter period.
Also in GrainQL 7#
- GrainQL for Shopify brings your orders, customers and checkout into GrainQL with no code. It is open now through private distribution at apps.grainql.com, and it will be on the Shopify App Store soon.
- For developers: the GrainQL tag 4.7 adds
getUserId()and page-level configuration, and a new server ingest endpoint lets your backend send events with their own timestamps, safely deduplicated. - Faster pages: the visitors list loads in one query, and the whole dashboard loads faster.
- Reports now handle "is one of" and "is not one of" filters.
How to get GrainQL 7#
You already have it. Neo is at the top of your sidebar, or one ⌘J away. Your dashboards, goals and reports are all where you left them. There is nothing to install and nothing to migrate.
New to GrainQL?
Paste one tag, let Neo set it up, and see your first hour. 14 days free, no card.
What comes next#
Neo will take on more of the work: building dashboards for you, keeping an eye on your goals, and sending you a short weekly brief. If there is something you want Neo to do, tell us. A lot of GrainQL 7 started as a message from one of you.
